Small groups are for anyone and everyone no matter where you are in our spiritual journey. Whether you've been a Christian for many years or you're just beginning to wrestle through the Christian faith, you'll be a welcome member of the group. We are ministry aimed at helping students transition from adolescence to young adulthood, from merely what their parents believed for them and taught them to what they believe for themselves.

It is presupposed that students enter Emory to develop academically and intellectually. They are preparing to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, and accountants. However, their education extends well beyond the walls of the classrooms and lecture halls. Everywhere they turn they are confronted by alternate beliefs and ideologies about the meaning of and how to apply what they are learning.

In addition to being exciting and sometimes intimidating, the diversity of perspectives at Emory is fertile soil for the GOSPEL. RUF seeks to enter into the wonderful exchange of ideas. We affirm the university experience and are not afraid of it, believing that if God’s truth really is TRUE, then it will flourish when examined honestly. Our prayer is that Christian students grow in grace and in their love for their fellow students and see Emory as an excellent place to live out their faith in an authentic way and that non-Christian students see RUF as an open door, wherein they can investigate the claims of Christ, have their questions respectfully addressed, and will be well loved.

Feel free to browse www.ruf.org, RUF's main home page.

Local Churches

Churches in the Atlanta-Metro area:

All Souls Fellowship

Buckhead Church

Christ Church

City Church Eastside

Intown Community Church

Second Baptist Ponce De Leon Church

Veritas Church

Westminster Presbyterian Church

Book Study of I John

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; We often times act like Christianity is a boxing match, 1-on-1, but Bonhoeffer challenges us to adopt a more biblical paradigm of how Jesus designed Christians to live as the church, in community.

Campus Intern

Erin Edwards is a graduate of The University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!!!!). Our staff would like to tell you that we are here for you as you go through this time of transition when your students goes off to college. The ministry of RUF has been at Emory for the last four years ministering to students in this most challenging time of their lives.

Over the years, there are questions that parents typically ask which we thought we would include in a page dedicated especially to parents and how we as a ministry can be a part of your student's life while away at Emory. Please don't hesitate to contact us with other questions about us.

Frequently Asked Questions:

(1) What is RUF?

RUF is the official campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America. For more than 25 years RUF campus ministers have been reaching students for Christ and equipping students to serve. Though receiving oversight from the PCA, RUF chapters are non-denominational in terms of their fellowship. Students from all backgrounds are welcome.

(2) What does "reformed" mean?

In the simplest terms, the word "Reformed" simply refers to the theology and confessions that arose out of the "Reformation." Therefore, RUF's theology is in full agreement with orthodox Protestantism.

(3) Is RUF only for Christians?

Absolutely not. RUF is open to all who are interested in learning more about Christ and his claims.

(4) What does RUF do?

RUF's ministry is composed of at least five different kinds of activities.

RUF Large Group is our "shop front" activity and usually the easiest way for students to plug into the ministry. The evening consists of a time of singing and worship ending with a message from Scripture, all in a non-threatening atmosphere. This is usually the place where your student can find out what all is going on within the ministry of RUF.

In any given semester, students participate in small group Bible studies over all kinds of topics. These small group studies are very informal in design and give students the chance to look deeper into a topic as well as make a few friends in the process.

RUF's commitment to reaching and equipping students means that one on one meetings with students are a vital part of our ministry. This time is usually spent getting to know each other personally, investing in on-going discipleship, dealing with personal issues with which the student struggles, and addressing any crisis that might arise during the students’ time at school.

RUF seeks to provide Emory students with opportunities to use their gifts and abilities to serve the campus and community in very concrete ways. There are various Ministry Teams in which students can participate throughout the school year.

Finally, at least a few times during the year, RUF is committed to getting out of town and gathering with other Christians for student conferences. Fall Conference in the Fall, Winter Conference in February, and Summer Conference in May are all great opportunities to get involved with RUF's ministry. These trips often will include mission trips.

(5) Can you contact my student?

We are more than happy to contact your student and give them a personal invitation to RUF. One small request that we make of you in this area is that you not ask us to contact your student if you are not willing for us to tell them that you asked us to call them. We have found over the years that the anonymous "cold call" can be counter productive.

(6) I would like to give financially to the ministry of RUF. How do I do that?

RUF functions totally upon the gifts and contributions of friends of the ministry. Contributions to RUF are, of course, tax deductible and receipted with every donation.
Please visit this website for more details about how to make a financial contribution to RUF.

http://www.ruf.org/support-us/

Financial contributions may also be sent to the following address:

Reformed University Ministries
1700 North Brown Road, Suite 104
Atlanta, GA 30043

New or Interested Students

Welcome!
We're so glad that you're interested in RUF Christian Fellowship.

There's lots going on and many ways to get involved.

Please contact us and we'll be happy to give you more information.

Hunter Bailey, Campus Minister
hbailey (at) ruf (dot) org

Erin Edwards, Campus Intern
erin.edwards (at) ruf (dot) org

Join our Emory RUF Facebook Group

What is RUF?

who are we?

color: black;">our purpose extends beyond personal religious convictions and denominational bounds. Our commitment lies first and foremost with the gospel, believing that the testimony of God’s grace is the starting point for transformation and all joy in living.

We recognize that none of us have it all together or have it all figured out. One of the wonderful things about the college is that it provides the opportunity to search, to struggle and to work through your experiences. Our commitment to God's grace means that we invite all students from all types of backgrounds and all walks of life, convinced or unconvinced, religious or irreligious, skeptical or spiritual, to engage in an honest exploration of what the Bible has to say about who God is, what God has done and why that matters to us.

why are we here?

RUF exists to nurture a community of Christians and seekers with the gospel.

We find two images helpful in describing this goal:

(1) RUF provides a clear path for Christians committed to following Christ in a life of discipleship and service. We believe the postmodern university is one of the most exciting places to live out the Christian faith. We are committed to providing spiritual growth opportunities through small-groups, teaching, fellowship, service and prayer.

(2) RUF provides an open door for those interested in investigating Christianity and the claims of Christ. We welcome the questions of thoughtful people, and are committed to responding with honesty and intelligence, not hostility or condescension.

what do we believe?

We believe the historic Christian faith. Two terms describe the content of that faith:

<span style="font-size: 10pt;
